Bio | Statement

Tara Moran-Woods is a visual artist currently based in Dublin.  She graduated from Sligo Institute of Technology in 2006 with a BA Hons in Fine Art.  She has exhibited throughout Ireland and received the General Arts Award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 2016, 2014, 2011, 2008. 

My most recent exhibition was influenced by research on the life of a visually impaired person.  Using embroidery as a medium to create tactile work as a way of recreating a photograph that can be touched.  Allowing the viewer to imagine what the photographic image might look like.

In the past I have also created installation art, most frequently using crochet and wool as a drawing material or sculptural medium to transform and adapt a domestic craft into contemporary art.
