Bio

Ritu Aggarwal is a contemporary artist whose works are associated with geometric abstraction, abstract illusionism, and hard-edged painting. Growing up in a small town in Haryana, moving to Delhi and having a short stint in New York gifted Aggarwal with the experience of different working environments. Her work has always revolved around the idea of urbanisation, and the artist is interested in the interpretation of and the interactions with the spaces that surround her. She uses abstraction as a way to navigate and define the 2-dimensional picture place, and colours to express a certain idea or mood.  Aggarwal completed her MFA in 2012, and has exhibited in India and in shows globally.

Artist statement

Weaving Through Lines is a series that investigates the relationship between structure and imagination. Using repetitive linear marks as a foundation, I create layered compositions where geometric forms, textures, and architectural references emerge and recede. The act of drawing becomes a process of weaving, connecting fragments of memory, observation, and intuition into spaces that are both familiar and ambiguous. Rather than depicting a specific place, these works invite viewers to experience movement through layered visual landscapes where line becomes a language of connection, rhythm, and transformation.
