Bio
Nanou Jacobs (b.1965) is a Dutch artist based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk (Department of Drawing) and is a member of the Dutch Association of Drawing artists. Drawing lies at the core of her practice. Jacobs often begins with observation, frequently working outdoors, but the work gradually shifts away from representation towards abstraction. Working without a predetermined plan, she allows the movement of the hand to guide the process.  Lines repeat, reorganise and form rhythms and fields, while the image slowly emerges. Her work explores the relationship between gesture and structure, approaching each drawing as an open and ongoing investigation.

Statement
Drawing is where my work begins. I am drawn to the line and to the movement of the hand that produces it. Often I start by observing what is in front of me, sometimes working outside. As the process unfolds, the work shifts away from description. Lines repeat and reorganise into fields and rhythms, creating a space where gesture and structure meet. I work without a fixed plan. Each piece develops through repetition and small decisions, allowing fragments of landscape to emerge without being defined.
