Bio | Statement
Lenka Davidikova is a multidisciplinary artist, primarily painter, drawer and sculptor. Originally from Slovakia, she moved to Belfast, Northern Ireland in 200G, ushers she graduated with a First Class Honours in Fine Art at the University of Ulster. Subsequently she became an Artist Studio Member at the Pollen Studios Belfast and in 2014 she moved to an independent artist studio where she is based to this day. She has been fully engaged artistically with Northern Irish, Irish and International audiences through group and solo exhibitions. Her work has been shouts in France, Holland, Greece, England and New York. She is a featured artist at the ArtisAnn Gallery Belfast, McKenna Gallery, and the Cupola Contemporary— Art gallery. Her work has been also shown at the Royal Ulster Academy and the Royal West of England Academy on several occasions and an image of her work was published in Sunday Times Culture Magazine. 
Lenka Davidikova's artwork explores the idea of searching for an interpretation of the human condition; through introspection, and relationships with others. There is a sense of attraction to alienated, displaced characters. 
Davidikova does not aim to create fixed images, guided by concentrated, focused attention; rather, aims to be guided by active but unfocused attention, resulting in instinctive correspondences. Her artistic practice consists mainly in working with various drawing media or ink. It is the immediate action these media offer that she is drawn to. The versatile ability of charcoal and graphite allows her to capture both gestures and emotions. The active process of adding and taking away became a very important aspect of her working processes. In contrast, the limitations of the usage of ink, place a demanding element upon the artist's fluid fixations. She has been developing new techniques creating mixed media artworks while experimenting with layering and mixing fragments of several pieces. Another aspect of her work is creating mixed media sculptures representing the human form which is often portrayed in combination with painting on the wall in its final representation.
