Artist statement
John Macormac's work explores pattern and rhythm through mathematics, geometry, structure and environment. His practice is process-led, rigorous, repetitive, systematic and labour intensive. His works carefully consider factors such as time, action, choice and human agency. Drawing is integral, functioning as a vehicle for thought. Exhibitions combine densely worked drawings that invite close examination alongside sculptural objects chosen for their shape or purpose, or specially constructed forms that he has made.
