Biography
Fiona Robinson is an Irish British artist, writer and curator whose primary practice is drawing. Elected an Academician of the Royal West of England Academy in 2012 she served as President from 2019 - 2025.

Statement
I make drawings in response to music. I experiment with different ways of
drawing, using line and erasure to explore the interaction between sound and
mark-making. I am interested in drawing as a cross-disciplinary process,
referencing music and other art forms including narrative storytelling and dance.
Recent work explores Max Richter’s score for the ballet Woolf Works which is
based on the life and writings of Virginia Woolf. I have made work in response to
the Bach Cello Suites, Chopin, Debussy, John Cage’s works for prepared piano,
Steve Reich and site-specific work responding to Gavin Bryars’ music composed
for The Listening Room at Chateau d’Oiron in France.
