Bio

Elaine Burke is a visual artist who holds an MA in Fine Art (with distinction). Previously having had a practice that was largely sculpture based she has effected a change of focus and is particularly interested in ideas of connectedness over time which she explores through a multi-disciplinary practice with particular emphasis on drawing. Her research led practice is concerned with female agency; exploring lived experience, motherhood and memory. Her drawing is often large scale work in charcoal. She is interested in latent associations of materials, connections across time and the giving and receiving of care. Making connections between universals and personal histories and geographies is key to her work.
She has had work exhibited throughout Ireland and the UK, Switzerland and Latvia. She has work held in both public and private collections and has a developing teaching practice.
