Claire de Chavagnac was born in 1950 in France. She lives in Paris. She studied architecture and design (CAT Camondo, Paris), she completed her training at the Beaux-arts de Paris (engraving and sculpture). She worked at the Paris operas (design office) then taught visual arts. She has devoted herself to painting since 1996.  She is represented by Galerie Réjane Louin in Brettany and Amélie Maison d’Art à Paris and New-York.  Her works are present in numerous public and private collections such as the Geo-Charles Museum, Les Moyens du bord, la Médiatèque Le Relecq-Kerhuon, Collections LVMH (Dior Paris, Tokyo, Luxembourg), Guerlain, GAUTIER &CO, J-M Tiffon, J. Aillagon, NIVAL National Irish Arts Library, Dublin, Lublin Museum Collection, Pologne.  For many years, the artist has developed a work to translate sensory memories. Over the last three years, paper has been her main tool; A plural paper in its origins and its qualities, as in its treatment.  She builds a grid using folding or cutting of elements which have been previously worked on or dipped in coloured solutions. Follows a construction process resulting in the combination of elements bathed in poetic evocations. The quality of the papers, their pictorial treatments, the game of light and transparency contribute to the way the image is received.  

Each work is built over time. « In the swing between the eye and the ear we are caught, as a piece of music takes us.../… But it is the play of colours, not their source that counts, the rhythm they create as bit by bit, like a script they build up a quiet yet restless pattern.
