Bio

Ben initially studied media as an undergraduate in Bristol, and then developed a practice of drawing and painting, plus exploring multiple mediums and approaches, in London. He has an MFA at Central St. Martins - winning an award for experimentation with materials - after settling in Cambridge. 

Ben's work is gleefully maneuvering between sense and nonsense, playing with notions of realism and abstraction. Line, mass, colour and language are used experimentally to test out his own understanding and vision as well as systems, conventions and traditions. Motifs and study are taken of the British landscape, perception and empire, developed from local histories and folklore, photography and walking excursions.
