Bio

Arjen Geurts work moves between disciplines and contexts, driven by experimentation and innovation. Themes have shifted over the years, yet they continue to resonate with one another and build upon each other. He works with a variety of media., including painting, drawing materials, three-dimensional wall objects, murals, and slide projections. 

He began doing graffiti at a young age in an old factory in Zwolle. The raw and experimental environment left a lasting impression. The rough edges of the city remain an important source of inspiration in his work to this day.

Geurts studied at Academie de Werker in Groningen and has exhibited in various galleries in the Netherlands and Europe. His work is included in several private art collections.

Statement

My visual work is an exploration of the magic of visible things. Looking beyond established (artistic) frameworks forms the basis of this. Using various media, I create a “world” in which things are removed from their familiar context and placed in a new one. This creates an enigmatic interaction between objects, in which the invisible is just as tangible as the visible.

I aim to offer the viewer an experience by inviting them to enter this magical world.
